To speak of ellipses…

Further to my previous post, try this neat little trick:

Go to the Apple menu and tap the option key a few times. Watch how some of the menu items alternate with additional options, similar to the regular ones in their place.

If you see an ellipsis, it means a window will follow the action. If you seen an item lose its ellipsis it signifies that the window that follows will be by-passed. For example, if wanted to log-out without the normal confirmation window, you can hold down the option key while selecting Log Out <Name>, you’ll see that the ellipsis disappears and you log-out immediately.

System Preferences is a little different—as a complement to the previous example—in that you can’t by-pass the System Preferences window.

Apple has had this feature ever since I can remember.
